Cowboy Pledge would like to thank the volunteers who participated in the Cowboy Pledge Night at the Utah Food Bank on January 17, 2012. Residents from several Cowboy Properties communities and their friends joined in a fun and fast-paced project. Each month the Utah Food Bank delivers more than 2,600 boxes of food to low-income seniors. This provides seniors with approximately 8 days worth of food to supplement their food supplies. Cowboy Pledge volunteers were asked us to help inspect and repackage over 300 of these boxes.
Our volunteers worked with enthusiasm and checked each box on 11 full pallets of previously boxed food. They confirmed that all scheduled items were included. They also resealed the boxes and reloaded the pallets. Volunteers worked in teams of two and by the end of the evening; they completed the task with a little time to spare.
We express our thanks to the Utah Food Bank staff for their support and guidance. Their willingness to work side by side with our volunteers helped make this activity an enjoyable event. We look forward to returning to the Utah Food Bank warehouse soon.
We express our appreciation to those who wanted to help but could not attend for various reasons. We invite everyone to participate in the 2012 Cowboy Pledge summer food drive for the benefit of the Utah Food Bank and other events throughout the year.
